May 1 - The Mexican National Show is scheduled for the first week in May, and we have received numerous invitations to attend, which Greg will.
> Dec. 9, 2006 – COB Bull Sale goes very well, with a large crowd and turn out of commercial producers to buy the offering. Bulls sold across Canada to Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec with the commercial cattle selling to Quebec & Ontario.
Our first offering of Stabilizer bulls were well received and the Hybrid power was appreciated by the buyers. The 6 SA Fleck bulls were well appreciated.
Next Bar 5 Bull sale is scheduled for April 14, 2007; which will be featuring SA Flecks, Polled Flecks, Red Angus, Angus, Red & Black Simmentals, and Red & Black Stabilizers.
This sale will also feature Elite SA Fleckvieh females.

Feeding Natural Cattle Is Topic Of Free Publication
A new South Dakota State University (SDSU) online publication discusses raising cattle without implants, ionophores or antibiotics. In the publication, "Feeding Natural Cattle" (find it at agbiopubs.sdstate.edu/articles/ExEx2056.pdf), SDSU Extension personnel Tyler Melroe and Erik Loe detail the market potential for "natural" beef, the requirements of such a management and marketing program, and the attributes, drawbacks and economics of "natural" feeding.

Invitational Multi-Breed Bull Test Station” delivery
date receives the Fall Test Group, who will run the 112 day
test with a Start of test (SOT) from November 7, 2006 to
End of Test ( EOT ) of Feb. 27, 2007 when they will scanned,
weighed, testes measured and frame scored by an independent
veterinarian from BIO – Beef Improvement Services Inc. www.biobeef.com
The Test group consists of the Maternal Breeds ( Fleckvieh,
Red Angus, Angus, & Simmental ) and Hybrids and Composites
of these breeds; FleckAngus, SimmAngus and some GelbAngus. Bar
5 congsigns 15 bulls and we invited 56 bulls for a Test Group
of 71 !!! We will try to sort the Bulls after
to EOT and the top 50 will sell on April 14, 2007 in the Bar
5 Spring Spectacular 34 Spring Production Sale !!!!
The Delivery & ALL data on the bulls will be posted on the
BIO site after the SOT of November 7 !! Heaviest
bull was a March 1 Angus bull from Bar 5 weighing 1000
lbs. !! He is a Few Dollars More son !!! www.biobeef.com for

We are anticipating that we will invite guests for the Fall
Groups that we will set of this coming Spring !!!! Delivery
date will be around May 1, 2007 with the End of Test scheduled
for around Sept. 1, 2007. Please contact Andreas Buschbeck
with any possible entries.
We encourage producers to contact us to get our recommendations
of breeding assignments for bulls that we are recommending, or
would like to source for our Bull Sales !!!
Fall 2006 EOT – Bar 5 has pulled 112 animals off test
this last couple months, with EOT of the three groups on Aug.
23; Sept. 19 & Oct. 24. The bull candidates will be
selling Dec. 2 in Fleckvieh Select in Red Deer, AB; and the remaining
Fleck bulls selling with the Angus, Red Angus, Red Hybrid & Black
Hybrid bulls selling on December 9, 2006 !!!!!

will make the entire 2 hour VBPP Program review, for a comprehensive
look at the Producer Standards that will be required for the
Bar 5 Alliance. Contact the Bar 5 office for full details.
> June 5 – Paul Stiles will run
a 15 video, and make a short 15 minute Program review. Brian
Pogue, will review the latest developments in source verification
from BIO.
> May 1 – Verified Beef Production
Program ( VBPP ) of the CCA & OCA “Quality Starts Here” initiative
has agreed to participate in the Bar 5 Producer Alliance events.
Paul Stiles and Dan Ferguson, of the OCA have agreed to attend
and make the presentation for the benefit of the producers. VBPP
certification will be required for future producer certification.
